Please join us on May 10, 2024, and spend a day engaging with like-minded experiential educators as Coast Mountain Academy plays host to ISEEN's 2024 West Coast Regional Expedition.

This ISEEN Regional Gathering is structured to optimize the experiential learning of its participants in a series of connected workshops that will be debriefed at the day’s end.  The main theme through all workshops surrounds the consequential decisions students are required to make in experiential education environments and how to tune experiences for an ever greater density of student decisions.  Participants will leave the day with direct strategies to increase the learning impact of nearly all types of experiential education programming.

Connected Workshops: Participants will participate directly in every workshop.
Workshop themes are drawn from existing senior school programming at Coast Mountain Academy - come prepared to actively engage!  

  • Negotiation: How do we persuade others to accept our ideas?  (Indoor)
  • An Essential Backcountry Task: How do I develop my own skills to solve a basic problem?  (Outdoor)
  • An Act of Creation: How do I make the most of a constrained set of resources? (Outdoor) 
  • Communal Problem Solving: How do I improve my ability to work with others? (Indoor)

9:00 AM Coffee & Muffins - Meet the Crew
10:00 AM Series of Connected Workshops** (Lunch Included)
2:30 PM Debrief on Campus: Synthesize the learning around consequential decisions related to the day's activities
3:30 PM Unofficial Debrief at an Outdoor Environment (TBD)


**Bring basic outdoor clothing. There will be short breaks between each session.

Registration is open for ISEEN member and not-yet-member schools!

$140 US for ISEEN Members and $150 US for Non-Members.

Location

This one-day professional development event will take place at Coast Mountain Academy’s senior school campus in Squamish, B.C. Canada - about an hour north of Vancouver.  Participants will be responsible for transportation to/from campus.
